Ryan Oakes Drops New Single, “WAKE UP”

Alt/hip-hop phenom Ryan Oakes has released his latest single, “WAKE UP” alongside an accompanying music video via Position Music. The single harkens back to some of Oakes’ earlier releases such as “Hellboy” and “Energy” in which Oakes aggressively spits rapid bars over thumping bass-lines and kickdrums as he releases pent up anger and frustration through creative lyrics and wordplay. The track is taken from his upcoming full-length debut, out in May of 2023.

“WAKE UP” is released with a harrowing official music video directed by Scott Hansen. The “WAKE UP” music video marks the first installment of a four-part music video series that weaves together a compelling narrative in which Ryan finds himself ensnared in a straight jacket at a glitched-out and nightmare-ish psychiatry ward as he’s tortured by sleazy businessmen and evil surgeons.

“WAKE UP” is a metaphorical alarm clock to let people know I’m here and here to stay, and whether they like to or not, they’re going to have to stop sleeping on me because I’m just getting started,” says Oakes.

Earlier this week, Position Music officially announced that they signed Ryan Oakes to an exclusive worldwide record label deal, Ryan Oakes joins a Position Music label roster that includes Kid Bloom, Blackway, Layto, Welshly Arms, Dead Posey, and 2WEI.
