Genre-bending duo, lil cat have returned with their new Halloween-themed single, “Monster“. The new track, which arrives just in time for spooky season, follows their recently released single, “Fuck You Up” and finds the pair staying true to their underdog persona. Listen to it now below.
Of the song, lil cat said, “For us, ‘Monster’ is a song about all the issues and anxieties that you keep hidden behind a mask– or a Halloween mask to keep things seasonal. It can be terrifying to share what’s going on below the surface, even with family or friends, but at some point, that’s the only way you’re going to overcome those demons.”
lil cat has released two EPs since they began making music; their debut EP, “tunes” followed by their sophomore EP, “czech new wave.” Cathrine and Mads are unstoppable when it comes to writing music, and the songs on their forthcoming debut album are hand-picked from an enormous bunch of demos. Over the past two years in quarantine, they have dedicated themselves to their craft, making several tracks and collaborating with artists like Reveal Party, Kamma, and Liberty, as well as songwriters from all over Scandinavia.
With the songs on their debut album, lil cat is somewhere in between hopeful and confident– hoping their songs might encourage others to feel confident taking on the role of a sensitive in-betweener.
