Massachusetts hardcore outfit, Wisdom & War have released their brutal new single, “GLOOM” alongside a music video today. The track is taken from the band’s upcoming album Superior Design due out January 6th on Unbeaten Records. The album is available for pre-save HERE with merch and vinyl available for pre-order HERE.
The band has this to say about their creative mission: “WE’RE HERE TO BRIDGE THE GAP BETWEEN SOUNDS, CULTURES AND COMMUNITIES. CENTRAL MASS HARDCORE HAS ALWAYS BEEN AND ALWAYS WILL BE HERE, OUR GOAL IS TO OPEN PEOPLES EYES AND EARS TO THE SOUND OF THE SCENE. IT NEVER DIES. CMHC…LOOK AT US NOW!”
“GLOOM” will sound familiar to fans of modern acts like Vein and Code Orange, but is all together original in its approach. Wisdom & War represent CMHC with an undeniable style influenced by classic nu-metal and hip hop along with classic heavy hardcore, and has the guts to do it their way. The songs serpentine guitar riffs weave in and out of a frenetic groove that builds to an anguished breaking point courtesy of lead singer Chanel’s caustic vocal performance – inspiring a sense of dread that we have no doubt will translate into violence on the dance floor. The official video adds a haunting visual narrative to the track and emphasizes the personality of the band.
