Electronic music producer Wxmell has teamed up with up-and-coming hyperpop singer-songwriter, RYL0 for their new single, “Disc Jockey“. The Eurodance-inspired pop track finds Wxmell returning to his roots as a rave-addled kid, incorporating the beloved sounds of his childhood into his contemporary aesthetic palette. Marking the first collaboration between the two artists, “Disc Jockey” showcases a seamless melding of Wxmell’s comprehensive production gifts with RYL0’s captivating songwriting panache.

“Disc Jockey” is a holistic representation of Wxmell as an artist – someone who has found himself dabbling in various subcultural dance styles over the past few years. The new track imbues its Y2K dance aesthetics with a contemporary touch – a glorious combination all the more elevated through RYL0’s potent pop skillset. It’s the kind of song he always wanted to make. Listen to “Disc Jockey” now below, and catch RYL0 performing “Disc Jockey” at her debut Boiler Room performance at the Boiler Room x Subculture event at Catch One in Los Angeles on December 2, 2022.

“Disc Jockey” kicks off with a sparkling synth melody before introducing RYL0’s verse in grand fashion. The vocalist blissfully sings over donk bass stabs and a thumping four-on-the-floor kick drum rhythm, adding a layer of pop jubilation to the throw-back dance vibe. As the verse progresses, various production and percussive elements enter the mix, transforming the track into a vibrant, multi-layered listening experience full of eccentric details. RYL0 then sings about dancing to forget someone who broke her heart, combining heart-wrenching, relatable lyrics with the song’s lavish, exhilarating instrumentation.
