London-based singer/songwriter Joseph Lawrence has returned with his newest single, “Empty House” today via Sony Music UK/RCA Records. The jazz-influenced track is accompanied with a live video that solidifies his position as one of the most exciting new vocalists to emerge from the UK. It follows his September debut, “Tomorrow.”
On Empty House, Joseph says, “Empty House for me focuses on loneliness, it focuses on having to cope with things by yourself and essentially just be alone. I’ve always felt it’s tough for anyone to be on my journey with me so it’s about me tryna find peace and them emotions. I think the song highlights how tough that is.”
“Empty House” finds Lawrence weaving technically astonishing vocal runs in and out of emphatic production from his collaborator, Fryars: it is a dexterous performance, one that shows the range of Lawrence’s abilities.
The release is accompanied by a searing live video that shows the true power of Lawrence’s voice and places an emphasis on his mesmeric performance style. Backed by his band, Lawrence delivers “Empty House” with a flair possessed only by the most gifted performers.
Over the past two months Lawrence has performed a show per month at St Pancras Old Church in London, honing his sound and performing cuts from his forthcoming 2023 debut album. On December 12th, he completes his run of performances at the venue with a third and final show.
