LA-based producer Venessa Michaels haas released her brooding nightclub banger, “L’amour” today. The new track is the third single to be released from her upcoming debut album, Sent From Saturn, out Friday, January 27th. It follows previously released tracks, “Spirit On Mine,” a collaboration with singer-songwriter Luck, and “Needed U”. Listen to it now below.
“L’amour” kicks off with an intimate French vocal passage that overlays worldly percussive elements and wind instrument samples. It then slowly builds with a backing vocal chop and a rising, ominous synth melody before dropping into a dancefloor-igniting central section full of sizzling house drums and bruising bass synth layers. With futuristic synths and infectious grooves, the track delivers the ultimate house experience and promises an album full of genre-blending, dance-fueled epics.
Venessa Michaels has made a name for herself through her self-coined ‘2090’ genre: a retro-futuristic sound blending various forms of club music with Y2K-inspired hip-hop and pop. Now, the queer producer/DJ is ready to expand her sphere further and show the world everything she’s capable of.
Following collaborations with J.Worra, Lil Texas, and Kaleena Zanders; touring slots with NIKI, Raury, 6lack, Party Favor, and Krewella; performances at festivals such as Coachella, Splash House, and Camp Flog Gnaw; and the creation of the theme song for the DreamWorks Netflix show KIPO and the Age of Wonderbeasts, Venessa Michaels is revving up towards her debut LP, Sent From Saturn. The album promises to explore a vast range of dance music sounds. It will display a holistic picture of Venessa Michaels’ artistry, showcasing her versatile skill set and eclectic aesthetic sensibilities.
