LA-based pop-punk artist, Cali Rodi has released her explosive new single, “Conspiracy Theory” today. Combining haunting guitar riffs and diary entry worthy lyrics, Cali speaks to every listener done wrong in her cathartic new track. Listen to it now below.
“I wrote ‘Conspiracy Theory’ about the rabbit hole we all secretly go down after a breakup,” Cali said of the song, “You know the drill – obsessively looking for any evidence and coming up with irrational reasons as to why they called it off with you. After a relationship ends, we’re usually left with more questions than answers, so I wanted to incorporate that unsettling feeling into a song. The lyrics are everything you want to ask an ex, but don’t, in fear of looking insane. Being guilty of this myself, I felt releasing this on Friday the 13th felt appropriate. My collaborators Sophie Hintze, Max Weinik, and I had so much fun writing this song- after we came up with the initial concept we literally went into the kitchen and made tin foil hats to wear while we finished writing.”
After a viral pop punk cover of ‘Driver’s License’, Cali built up a fan base on TikTok, using the platform to leak new songs and do emo versions of popular songs to gain new listeners. Cali was recently part of a sold out run with Kailee Morgue as well as a recent performance at Emo Night Nashville with Aaron Gillespie and Chris Kamrada. Most recently one of her recent singles ’The Girl Who Cried Love’ was just picked up by Epic Games to be featured in their flagship game Fortnite. She’s also been featured recently by TikTok on their discover homepage as part of the Beats & Bops campaign. Inspired by early Katy Perry and Paramore, Cali Rodi is sure to bring a new energy to your playlists!
