Orange County-based producer and songwriter, wes mills has released his new single, “grand slam,” taken from his upcoming debut EP, nintendo 64. “grand slam” is a fun and fast-sounding UK Garage track, inspired by an old Nintendo tennis game. Listen to it now below.
wes mills explains the inspiration behind “grand slam” saying, “This song was inspired by movement. I enjoy sports and how there’s so much technique and athleticism that comes with it. I realize that it goes hand in hand with dance and the many intricacies that come with it. So with that being said, I wanted to make a song that is able to portray both and how movement can mean many different things.”
The music video for “grand slam” amplifies the energetic movements and uplifting vibes captured in the track, created in collaboration with his good friend.
Although wes mills hasn’t released many songs yet, he’s definitely not unknown to the industry. You may have previously recognized his unique blend of UK Garage and Dance Pop on one of his features on San Holo’s bitbird’s ‘create together’ community compilation albums, or from his feature on Sam Day’s debut EP “Evergreen”. wes mills has also written and worked with artists such as Yultron, Quiet Bison, and Yvng Jalapeño, and if you don’t know him from that, you must know him as one of the kids on Disney’s “That’s So Raven”.
