Rising artist/producer Carneyval has returned with “Flies“, a collaboration with benny mayne via Astralwerks today. Opening with emotive acoustic guitar, the track quickly kicks into high gear with a steady, infectious beat as benny mayne launches into an edgy, stream-of-consciousness reverie about time and the search for meaning in life, delivered with his characteristic “devil may care” vibe.
“Flies” is the follow-up to Carneyval’s “Me Time,” a sublime piece of pop escapism featuring vocals from Lourdiz that earned support from such dance outlets as EDMIDENTITY, EDMTUNES and Stagehoppers. Originally from Virginia Beach, Carneyval got his start independently releasing original music. His first single, “It Ain’t Love,” debuted at #1 on both the U.S. and Global Viral charts on Spotify. In April 2020, he began creating impressive viral remix mashups on TikTok. Since then, he’s amassed a major fanbase, racking up over 3.6 million followers and more than 600 million views on his creations. His profile continues to rise as Carneyval was recently featured in Apple Music’s Today’s Hits DJ Mix series.
Released in spring 2020, his Post Malone/Childish Gambino remix has become an anthem for the Black Lives Matter movement. He’s also gained major experience in touring and DJ-ing in recent years, opening for artists like Illenium, Masego, Big Gigantic, and Above & Beyond, to name just a few. Carneyval’s goal is to become the next Mark Ronson: have a #1 Billboard Hot 100 song featuring a massive pop singer while balancing songwriting and production for other artists.
