Quickly rising pop artist, JORDY has unveiled his powerful new single, “Love You and Let You Go” today. The vulnerable track proves that you can still have love for someone, even if you’ve fallen out of love with them. The larger than life track will appear on JORDY’s highly anticipated sophomore album BOY, out Friday, April 21st. Listen to it now below.
“‘Love You and Let You Go’ is about owning the fact you can still have love for someone, but move on at the same time,” JORDY explained. “My first real true love was at the end of college. We were young and had our dreams to chase, so it was best to breakup and focus on ourselves. Growing up, I believed in order to move on you needed to fall out of love. As an adult, it’s not as simple as that. I can hold somebody in my heart forever, but build a life with someone else.”
JORDY initially heralded the album with lead single “Story of a Boy” in January, which interpolates Nine Days’ era-defining Y2K hit “Absolutely (Story of a Girl).” The result is a modern, queer version of the classic that evokes nostalgia, while also giving representation and visibility to the next generation of LGBTQ+ youth. The band’s original frontman John Hampson gave JORDY his stamp of approval and even made a cameo in the official music video. JORDY also delivered a stellar performance the track on The Kelly Clarkson Show in February.
Recently, a kind, inclusive trend on TikTok emerged, inspired by the new and original song. Members of the Transgender Community have used the audio from both “Story of a Boy” and “Absolutely (Story of a Girl)” by Nine Days, to document their before and after transition photos, which JORDY has been championing on his channel.
Piling up north of 100 million career streams, earning nominations at the iHeartRadio Music Awards (2022, Best Social Star), GLAAD Media Awards (2023, Outstanding Breakthrough Music Artist), and Queerty Awards (2023, Best Music Video), JORDY holds nothing back on BOY. On the cover of the album, you can see JORDY leaning back as he grabs his tie, a symbol of adulthood pulling at his neck. Comprised of high-impact pop anthems and sensitive ballads, it’s a relatable and heartfelt body of work that’s sure to provide solace to its listeners. The official tracklisting can be found below, which also includes pre-released fan-favorite singles, “Dry Spell,” “IDK SH!T,” and “i get high.
“When you’re young, you look at adults and envy their wisdom and experience; but here I am, 27 years old, and there are many days where I feel lost. It makes me think about how when you’re young, all you want is to be older, and once you get older, all you want is to stay young,” JORDY added.
Following his sold out show at the famed Troubadour in December, JORDY will be heading out on a U.S. tour in April, providing direct support for fellow pop artist Spencer Sutherland. The dates commence with a hometown show at the House of Blues Chicago on Saturday, April 8, and wrap at Los Angeles’ Belasco Theater on Thursday, April 27. JORDY will also play Pittsburgh’s ‘Pride on the Shore’ Festival this summer on Saturday, June 3, supporting Ava Max and FLETCHER.
