Vancouver emerging pop artist, Madisyn Gifford is back today with her new single, “Prettiest Bitch“. The self-love anthem is a bright, honest and confident track that finds Madisyn celebrating the flaws that make her who she is. Listen to the song now below.
“Prettiest Bitch is a song I wrote on my guitar last spring in a moment of contemplation. I was thinking about how I recognize myself for my flaws and everything wrong with me and still love myself anyway,” Madisyn shares. “I was thinking about how lovely it would be if I could just present everything wrong with me to someone on a silver platter and still have them say ‘you know what I love you anyway’. That’s kind of what the song is about. At the end of the day I feel like that’s kind of what everyone wants. You can’t feel truly seen unless the person seeing you is looking at the bad stuff too.”
Madisyn’s transcendent take on indie-folk with an integral pop tinge has earned accolades from media, industry moguls, and music-loving masses alike; but with her latest output, she is proving herself to be a complete creative force, serving up stories and introspections as compelling as the soundtrack to which they’re set.
Despite having just hit her 20s, the quick-blooming, genre-bending artist has been quite prolific, dropping her debut EP, Learning to Exist, via 604 Records in the spring of 2021 and heralded follow-up LP, I hate ur guts, less than a year later. Now, she’s putting the final touches on the next musical milestone of what’s already an impressive artistic path. Madisyn has seen her fanbase swell consistently and organically along the way, earning millions of streams across the major platforms; coverage from tastemaking outlets like Rolling Stone, Consequence, EARMILK, Sweety High, RANGE, Popternative, and CLOUT; and live performances on national networks.
