Belgian producer, AMNES has released his debut EP, Nur today via bitbird. Paying tribute to AMNES’ Arabic roots, the EP is a reflection of his personal journey of self-development, with each of the five track symbolizing a step in AMNES’ journey and expressing how art can reveal buried emotions. Listen to it now below.
Speaking about the EP, AMNES said, “Over these last months, I made you discover different parts of the story of this EP with the releases of “Otaku”, “Kintsugi”, and “Stamina”. The EP’s title, ‘Nur,’ means looking for the light during the different situations in life that we can go through. I wanted to express something personal through each track, and I hope you feel that when you listen to them. I can’t wait for you to discover the last tracks of this EP and for the story of ‘Nur’ to be complete.”
The EP kicks off with “Otaku”, a song that reflects a period where AMNES spent time alone, obsessing over music, to the detriment of their social life. “Kintsugi”, the second track, refers to the Japanese art of putting broken pottery pieces back together with gold. The track sets the tone for the EP, depicting the starting point where one wants to be rebuilt. “Farang” follows, where AMNES describes feeling like a stranger to the world in which he lived, having spent so much time alone. The fourth track, “Stamina”, represents the perseverance to continue even when the situation is difficult, to reach one’s goal through the paths one has traveled. The EP concludes with “Outro (Shakra)”, which AMNES describes as a “deliverance track”, representing the release of internal energy that comes out after persevering through difficult times.
AMNES is known for creating electronic music that is both innovative and unique by discovering new sounds and designing them from scratch.
