Swim Club – the dreamy indie-pop project of Laurits Bigum Steinberg – has revealed his debut single, “Hercules” today. Carried by dreamy, analogue synth and sweeping acoustic guitars, the track is made up of blissful layers of sound that have arrived just in time for spring. The track, which can be heard now below, is taken from Swim Club’s debut EP, which is set for release on May 26th.
Of the song, Swim Club said, ”’Hercules’ is about the rise and fall of the heroes of our lives. To see that rock-solid person, who was always strong like an ancient Greek hero and wise like a god to you, struggle to get back up. It’s also a song about preserving good relations while the world is changing and seemingly nothing is what it used to be.”
In the early Spring of 2022, Laurits Bigum Steinberg sailed out from the coast of Spain and for two months he left behind his everyday life. This impulsive sailing trip around the azure blue Mediterranean Sea to the endless Atlantic Ocean was a much-needed escape from reality and when Laurits finally returned to Copenhagen, his journey inspired to new sounds, new lyrics and music to be made.
Swim Club makes dreamy indie-pop – calm, fresh and laidback. Almost meditative and shaped from simple melodic structures and musical themes, Swim Club creates impulsive, lively and both electronic and acoustic soundscapes.
