Genre-defying artist, Gwyn Love has released their dreamy new single, “ur gf kisses me” via 604 Records. Taking a slight step away from their danceable genre mashing releases, the lulling new track explores a more bedroom pop sound as Gwyn Love’s soft and sweet vocals muse over the vengeful fantasy of standing up to a friend’s toxic partner. Listen to it now below.
“I wrote this song with the help of Chad Petree about real life events. I wanted it to sound sort of dreamy because it was this fantasyland where I actually stood up to my friend’s terrible boyfriend and told him off, when in real life I was way too terrified of the repercussions to do that,” Gwyn shares. “The creation of this song was so fulfilling as it came out exactly as I imagined it. This is one of my favorite songs I’ve ever written to date and I’m ecstatic to finally be able to share it with the world.”
Already known as an emerging voice with a punk mentality and electronic-pop vibe, Gwyn Love shows yet another facet of their songwriting with the intimate nature of “lil bit.” In recent months, they have been hard at work on new material with an eclectic variety of sounds — a contrast that parallels their recent move from small town Oklahoma to the bright lights of Los Angeles. Their genre-defying approach and honest lyricism has been the main factor setting Gwyn apart from the pack. As a creative deeply invested in every aspect of their sound, and what they put out to the musical world, it’s their songwriting, that makes their music special and different.
Making their debut amongst the chaos of 2020, Gwyn Love has continued to garner major support with over 1.5 million Spotify streams alone, and their 2021 single “sh*t I like” soaring to over a million streams. Their music has been found on popular playlists such as Spotify’s “It’s A Bop” and “Fresh Finds”, Apple Music’s “New Music Daily” and Amazon’s “Fresh Pop” and “Brand New Music,” and has received praise from tastemakers such as Wonderland Magazine, LADYGUNN, HollywoodLife, EARMILK, CelebMix, CLOUT, and CelebSecrets.
“ur gf kisses me” follows the release of “lil bit,” which saw Gwyn Love opening up to listeners with what is deemed their most vulnerable songwriting yet.
