Young Franco has returned with his new single, “Studio 54” featuring JaFunk and Leyla Blue today via Astralwerks. The strong dance music number operates between the worlds of disco, funk and hip hop, bound together by one of Franco’s most gorgeously created bass lines to date. With such a solid bass line also comes an equally emphatic rhythmic section, giving “Studio 54” that classic Young Franco feel. Above this foundation sit gorgeous synth chords and a croony vocal performance from New York local Leyla Blue.
While Jafunk has worked with Young Franco previously on “Like That”, Leyla Blue joins an elite list of alumni that have graced his elite production. She now sits in a class next to the likes of Theophilus London, Denzel Curry, Glass Animals, Pell, Jay Prince, Tkay Maidza amongst other budding legends.
When describing the record, Franco says “I wrote Studio 54 originally as a fun summer idea with Jafunk in 2022, we were in Sydney and swimming most days, it only felt right to write a funk/disco track. When we finished the instrumental I flew over to LA and worked with Leyla for the first time and smashed it out in a day. I’ve always been a big fan of her work, she’s amazingly quick to work with. The track reminds me of walking out of a sweaty night of dancing into the summer air”.
Young Franco is well and truly establishing himself as one of Australia’s most legendary producers. His discography is sitting on over 180 million streams across all singles to date, with over 1 million monthly listeners on Spotify. Over the past two years he’s soundtracked the new-look Australian Football League, and has received global sync’s for brands including Apple, Starbucks, Topshop and Kia. He releases Studio 54 in the midst of a US and European tour and he has been recently announced to play Splendour In The Grass 2023.
JaFunk is no stranger to Young Franco’s discography, with the producer most recently contributing to his 2022 track Like That, which is currently sitting on over 1 million streams. The Berlin based, Australian producer has garnered international radio support from the likes of BBC Radio 1 UK, Radio FG in France and triple j locally. Leyla Blue also joins the track with fierce momentum.
