Rising indie-pop angel, Anna Shoemaker is inviting you down the rabbit hole of her brain with the release of her enchanting new EP, Hey Anna. The EP arrives alongside an accompanying video for the title track, which sees the Brooklyn-based songwriter in one of her most raw and unadulterated forms: having a full-blown menty b while ironing her clothes.

“Hey Anna” is a striking love letter to Shoemaker’s inner child. “Sometimes it feels surreal looking back at the things you’ve overcome. Hey Anna is about learning to be intuitive and dealing with heartbreak and anxiety when you’re too young to know what it even is.” Shoemaker elaborates; “It’s about growing up quickly as a defense mechanism. This song is really what I should’ve said to myself so many different times – it’s a song to my younger self.”

On the creative contrasts between her album and Hey Anna, Shoemaker states, “When I wrote my album, I was in complete free fall. Every song was an unfiltered word vomit, calling out everything the way I saw it on impulse. My EP is more of a self-analysis. It’s easy to blame people for our problems. I think that’s why toxic relationships can be addicting. The hard thing to do is turn around and look at yourself and figure out how you’re going to move forward with your life and be a person.”

The 5-song set includes Anna’s previously released tracks “Holly,” “I Think I,” and “666.” With “Hey Anna” and “ADHD” rounding out the collection, this summer will find Anna spreading her angel wings and soaring! She might even land in a city near you soon so be sure to get your tickets and come say Hey Anna!
