Alternative pop group, Small Words have released their emotionally driven new single, “Talk”. The heartfelt track explores the challenges that come with expressing one’s emotions and feelings within a relationship, inviting listeners to reflect on their own methods of communication. The song delves into the delicate balance between wanting to maintain a harmonious connection with someone, whilst also grappling with the weight of unspoken emotions and the complexities that arise when faced with the vulnerability of sharing difficult truths.
Elaborating, vocalist Nick Long shares, “Talk is about putting off the hard conversations about how you’re doing with people you care about. It’s always been a challenge for me to really discuss how I’m feeling mentally while I’m struggling (outside of music), and this song is about a relationship that failed because of that lack of communication.”
Conceived in Indianapolis, IN in 2018, Small Words united with the desire to create music that resonates with listeners on a deeply emotional level. The alt-pop outfit’s journey began as a solo project for singer/songwriter, Nick Long, but quickly evolved, adding lifelong best friends Zach Carroll (Guitar/Bass), Aaron Lindauer (Guitar/Bass), and Daniel Glover (Drums). Drawing inspiration from a wide range of genres, including pop, rock, R&B and electronic, Small Words marry catchy hooks and honest storytelling.
Small Words seamlessly transfer their contagious energy on record to their live show; supporting slots for The Dangerous Summer, Have Mercy and The Early November all giving the emerging quartet the chance to showcase their prowess in front of sizeable crowds.
From the inception of their musical endeavour, Small Words have taken complete control of their artistic vision. Their debut full-length album, Violent Absence of Love, released last year, captures the essence of their sonic exploration, featuring a collection of anthemic tracks that explore the complexities of love, loss, and personal growth.
