Summerdrive have released their intoxicating new single, “Shimmer” today. Blending retro synths and propulsive percussion, the dynamic track showcases the band’s unique blend of alternative-rock, indie-pop, and 80’s-inspired synth pop. Listen to it now below.
“The overarching idea of the song is chasing a feeling that has faded, whether you like it or not,” the band – composed of New York-based multi-instrumentalists Jake Stam, Matt Montgomery and Tim Coakley – said about the song. “Visiting the places that you’ve been with someone, whether it be a friend or partner, and those places not holding the same meaning as they once did. Ultimately realizing that sometimes it’s out of our control how these things end up.”
Summerdrive (f.k.a Friends At The Falls) made their debut in 2018 with their first EP, Wild In Our Ways. Their sophomore project, Be The Change, was released in 2021 and catapulted the band to new heights with over 4 million cumulative streams. Influenced by their time in New York and Los Angeles, as well as contemporary acts like The Killers, The 1975, Coldplay, and Walk The Moon, the band have found a way to cultivate a sound that’s both nostalgic and timeless.
