WHOKILLEDXIX have joined forces with Ezekiel for the hyperactive new single “Villains” via Masked Records/Warner Records. Boasting breakneck production and distorted vocals, the furious bop positively incites movement. Alongside the track comes a live performance that captures the frenetic energy of WHOKILLEDXIX’s live show.
WHOKILLEDXIX can always be counted upon to deliver music that instantly gets pulses fluttering, and this time is no exception. For “Villains,” the inspiration came from viral artist Ezekiel. “We first heard the beat for ‘Villains’ on the set of a video shoot we did with Ezekiel for our previous song ‘RELOAD!,'” the duo says of the new banger. “That’s when we knew we had to hop on it.”
“We mixed our drill inspired vocals with the Brazilian Phonk beat and it came together really well,” they continue. “We want people to be overstimulated with all the different synths, sound effects, and percussions when they hear it.” It turned out to be the perfect canvas for Yung Skayda and Karm the Tool, who inject their dynamic and demented brand of lyricism into the song. It’s raw, rowdy and ready for the masses.
“Villains” is WHOKILLEDXIX’s first new single since the arrival of “LUCK1,” another blistering composition specifically designed to drive fans into a frenzy. Both were preceded by the similarly explosive “H4LO.” All this new music comes in the wake of the Connecticut duo’s debut album PULLBACK, which dropped in 2022. Filled with hard-charging creations like “ATTENTION!,” “ANXIETY,” and “it takes two,” it announced the arrival of a boldly original new voice in music.
PULLBACK follows the EPs LORE, Vol. 1, Fall Damage, and 19. With more than 250 million combined streams thus far, it’s safe to say the outfit’s supersonic brand of songwriting is connecting with fans. The same goes for Ezekiel, who has quickly made a name for themself, racking up almost 450 million global streams with their moody, sonic daydreams including viral hit “help_urself,” which is certified RIAA Gold in the US.
With “Villains,” WHOKILLEDXIX are leaning into their dense and daring tendencies, offering up a track that was designed to blow out the speakers at parties.
