Today, Los Angeles based, genre bending artist, AZRA has released her new high-energy and empowering EP, The Chronicles of Substance Pop: The Rebellion. The new EP is a diary of AZRA’s artistic and emotional journey – a depiction of her experience through music. AZRA has come to a place of acceptance with who she is and what her ideals are, and has let go of all negativity and demons. With this collection of songs, she sends the message that the greatest rebellion is being yourself and living your life wholeheartedly and unapologetically. The EP perfectly encapsulates the sound that she’s been trying to find for herself since 2017 and marks the beginning of a new era for AZRA.
Speaking on the EP, AZRA shares, “When people listen to this EP, I want them to forget about how things are ‘supposed to be’ and realize they have the power to make their own path in life and embrace that journey, because being authentic is the greatest rebellion.”
The Chronicles of Substance Pop: The Rebellion introduces her signature sound, which she has coined Substance Pop, the 6th Dimension and a few of the Pillars she lives her life by. Each track on the EP gives insight into the artist that AZRA is: “The 6th Dimension” brings you into the world AZRA has created in her music – a place where you can live life to the fullest and be whoever you’ve always wanted to be. “ALL OUT” is a bold, empowering self-love anthem and a reminder to live your life fearlessly. “i wish you would cry” is a love letter to ourselves begging in our darkest moments to find the courage to face our demons and honor whatever feelings that follow. “Bring Me The Crown” is a vibrant pop-rock anthem oozing in confidence that encourages you to hold your head high and wear your crown proudly. The final track, “Soul Ties” is a nod to her Korean heritage that features AZRA singing in both Korean and English, that delves into her journey immigrating from Korea to America as a child and finding the people in your life that want to lift you up and want to be around you.
Tonight, AZRA will be hosting a very special EP release show at The Hotel Cafe in Los Angeles, CA, featuring support from The Egos. The show will be a celebration of the release of the EP, and will be the first chance fans get a chance to listen to the new songs live featuring a full band! Tickets for the show are available now.
