L.A.-based Alt/Pop duo, BETWEEN FRIENDS have shared their new single, “Haircut” featuring vocals from Bakar. The track is taken from the duo’s long-awaited debut album, I Love My Girl, She’s My Boy, out August 25th, ahead of their recently-announced tour with Blaketheman1000 this October. Throughout “Haircut” Savannah & Brandon unite with Bakar to deliver a passionate performance packed with earnest lyrics and candid, personal reflections that complement the accompanying visuals and sunny production. Listen to the track now below.
Led by a string of dynamic singles released throughout the year, including “Bruise” (6M+ Streams), “Redlight” (feat. Teezo Touchdown), “What’s up”, “Smiley” & now “Haircut”, BETWEEN FRIENDS’ upcoming debut album, I Love My Girl, She’s My Boy is a project 10 years in the making. With a title directly inspired by a quote from one of Savannah’s exes, the forthcoming debut is their most vulnerable release to date—a retrospective of past relationships and lessons learned in love. Across the album, BETWEEN FRIENDS reflect on various real-life experiences and scenarios, facing reality head-on and embracing the often difficult and challenging aspects of life which much of their previous music was created to provide an escape from. Despite the subject matter, the album’s sonic palette is consistently bright & energetic, often invoking nostalgic ‘90s teen movie-esque soundscapes.
I Love My Girl, She’s My Boy also marks the first time that BETWEEN FRIENDS have worked with a producer, Luka Kloser of Max Martin’s MXM team—which has resulted in an expansive yet deeply introspective offering that’s filled with ultra-relatable lyrics and heartfelt songwriting.
