Power pop siblings Durry are back with their new single, “Little Bit Lonely” today via Big Pip Records and Thirty Tigers. The track arrives ahead of the band’s debut album, Suburban Legend, out September 8th and is accompanied by a Nintendo 64-inspired music video, which can be seen now below.
Along with a playfully upbeat sound, “Little Bit Lonely” comes to life thanks to the accompanying music video, which Durry created and conceptualized themselves. The video adds an entirely new dimension to the song, transforming Austin and Taryn Durry into video game characters à la Super Mario as they run through a pixelated world, simulating the formation of the band and its growth over time while staying true to their DIY roots. Austin and Taryn’s characters navigate this virtual world with nods to their origin story, going from forming a band in their garage to recruiting new members and performing at shows.
On creating the video, Durry explain, “For this video we got to live every 90’s kid’s dream by making our very own N64 game. It started with the idea of making an N64 style cartridge to hold our cassette tape, but then quickly turned into a full fledged animated music video. My only regret is that the game isn’t real… I wanna play it so bad.”
“Little Bit Lonely” is the fourth release off the album, following “I’m Fine (No Really),” “Coming of Age,” and “Who’s Laughing Now,” which have received praise from V Magazine, Rolling Stone, Ones to Watch, and more. These releases have been featured on the cover of Amazon Music’s Breakthrough Alternative and Spotify’s Fresh Finds Rock, along with playlist adds on Apple Music’s New in Alternative, Spotify’s Fresh Finds and New Noise, SiriusXM’s Alt Nation, and BBC Radio 1’s Future Artists, among others. Currently, viral hit “Who’s Laughing Now” is climbing steadily at alternative radio and has amassed over 600,000 streams. These tracks all feature the band’s signature power pop sound and relatable lyrics that strike the perfect balance between irony, vulnerability, and social commentary. Their writing chops are on full display throughout Suburban Legend, as the duo unpack themes of mental health, late-stage capitalism, relationships, and (perhaps heaviest of all) Taco Bell.
Fortunately, Durry won’t be lonely for long, as they’ll soon be packing venues across the United States on their Suburban Legend Tour. The tour, which is set to make stops at the Troubadour in Los Angeles, Racket in New York City, and Lincoln Hall in Chicago, comes shortly after the release of Suburban Legend. This will be the band’s first time back on the road since their sold-out tour in 2022. Tour dates and tickets can be found HERE.
