JAWNY is back with his raucous new single “Boy Scout” today via Interscope Records. The track is one of the singer/songwriter/producer’s wildest experiments yet as he infuses his sun-dazed alt-pop with searing psychedelia. It’s a fitting extension to the blistering rock moments of his whimsical debut.
Co-written and co-produced by JAWNY and multi-platinum GRAMMY®-nominated producer and songwriter Imad Royal, “Boy Scout” is jaunty yet jarring; it’s both a sing-along and mind-melter. JAWNY knows just how to reel us in—with a throbbing bass line, punchy Wurlitzer, and infectious “na-na-na’s.” By the chorus, it’s his innocent come-on—“I’m a boy scout for your love”—that keeps us wanting more. But in typical JAWNY fashion, he throws a wrench into the whole sticky groove, turning the song into a heavy, psych-rock squall before inviting us back into the irresistible hook. Listen to it now below.
“Boy Scout” is JAWNY’s first new song since the release of his debut album in March. In the months following the album’s release, JAWNY went on a sold-out club tour. Now, with the thrilling “Boy Scout” to add to his setlist, he will be heading back out on the road this fall, starting in Santa Cruz on September 21 and including a stop at the Life is Beautiful Festival in Las Vegas. Tickets are on sale now.
