Canadian songstress Devon Cole has released her buoyant friendship anthem, “I Got You” via Arista Records. The new track is an upbeat earworm and an ode to friendship lyrically, but it was more aspirational than reflective in its origin with Devon. She explains, “’I Got You’ is a song about being a good friend. It’s a little ironic for me to have written this song because I’ve historically not been the best friend. I tend to hermit and I’m trash at responding to anyone’s texts… even my best friends. So, this song is aspirational. I have amazing friends – they are hilarious, intelligent, and iconic. They deserve the kind of friend described in this song. Writing ‘I Got You’ forced me to confront myself and work towards doing better.”
“I Got You” follows 2023’s viral single “W.I.T.C.H,” which to date has over 119 million streams and 30 million views across her socials. 2023 also saw the release of “Dickhead,” deemed an “infectious pop romp” by Ones to Watch. On the DSP end, Devon was the cover of Spotify’s It’s a Bop and Amazon Music’s Canada Now and was featured on Apple Music’s Elton John’s Rocket Hour playlist.
Devon will co-headline a show with labelmate, ROSIE, on June 5th at Live Nation & Canadian Music Week in Toronto,CA. Ticket information HERE.
