Earlier this year, Lauren Sanderson returned with “THEY WONT LIKE THIS”, her first new track of 2024 and is now following up the track with her new single, “FREAK / PINTEREST“. The new track marks the first to be released from Lauren Sanderson’s forthcoming album. Listen to it now below.
“FREAK / PINTEREST” is 3 songs in one, best described as the emotional roller coaster of having a hyper-fixation crush. The song starts off as high-energy alt pop, then enters the world of “Bad Guy” by Billie Eilish, ending with a vulnerable, SZA-like energy. The track is produced by Aidan Hogg (G Flip, Sofia Isella) and co-written with Jesse Thomas (Troye Sivan, Royal & The Serpent, Martin Garrix).
Lauren Sanderson is a future (and current) queer icon in the making whose music gives people a place to feel accepted no matter what. FREAK comes just in time for pride month and is supported by 12 headlining pride shows across the country.
In a seemingly short four years following her 2020 debut album Midwest Kids Can Make It Big — a nod to her Indiana roots — Sanderson has never failed to reinvent herself time and time again. Having opened for both FINNEAS and Chase Atlantic on tour in 2019, she recently embarked on her first international headline tour, hitting 33 cities around the world, including Europe & the UK. Sanderson has built a loyal cult following thanks to her DIY mentality, relentless work ethic and electric persona. She has accumulated over 200 million streams, half of which coming from her own music and the other half as a songwriter for musicians like platinum-selling artist, JOJI (Smithereens). MTV, Billboard, PAPER, Zane Lowe’s Beats 1, Alt Press, NPR, Cosmopolitan & Spotify’s New Music Friday have all signed on in support of her swirling, intoxicating blend of rock, pop, hip-hop and R&B.
