Rising indie-pop singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist Lyn Lapid is kicking off 2025 with her new single “Coraline” today via Mercury Records. The new song arrives alongside the official music video, which can be seen now below.
The infectiously bouncy beat of “Coraline” juxtaposes with the song’s vulnerable and all-too-relatable lyrics, as Lyn searches for belonging and a sense of home. Sharing its name with the cult-favorite animated horror film, “Coraline” was inspired by the feeling of putting yourself in situations time and time again that ultimately leave you feeling empty and isolated, despite hoping for a different outcome every time.
2025 is shaping up to be an exciting year for Lyn with more releases and announcements on the way. 2024 saw her release her fan favorite single “buttons” and collaborations with the likes of mxmtoon on “back from the dead,” Whethan on “Cruise Control,” and Eric Nam on “Wish I Didn’t Care.” Not to mention, she performed a packed set on the main stage of New York’s Head In The Clouds Festival.
Over the past few years, Lyn Lapid’s star has continued to rise, as Billboard declared, “[She] is proving her mettle as an artist in her own right.” In 2022, the 22-year-old pop songstress dropped her long-awaited debut EP The Outsider, which was dedicated to all “the outsiders” like herself and featured the Gold-Certified “In My Mind” and fan favorites “I Guess That Was Goodbye” and “The Outsider.” The EP received critical acclaim from the likes of Billboard, UPROXX, Hypebae, and more, with Atwood Magazine naming her an “exceptional artist-to-watch.” In 2023, Lyn teamed up with Canadian singer and songwriter Ruth B. on “do u really?” leading into the to love in the 21st century chapter, which includes her sophomore EP to love in the 21st century and extended version to love in the 21st century: the epilogue. The project drew inspiration from fan favorite Gen Z rom-coms, including To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before and The Summer I Turned Pretty, and told the story of the beginning, middle, and end of a relationship, capturing all the emotions of a first love. LADYGUNN praised the EP, saying, “to love in the 21st century as a project speaks volumes about the type of person Lyn Lapid is – she and the album are filled with fearless vulnerability and impeccable storytelling.”
In addition, Lapid sold out her headline tours across North America and also joined Nam, Ricky Montgomery, and Claire Rosinkranz on the road. Surpassing over 830 million global streams across her catalog and amassing 5 million TikTok followers to date, Lyn Lapid has affirmed herself as a rising artist to watch.
