John K Releases New Single, “Never Been In Love”

John K Never Been In Love

Multi-platinum pop singer/songwriter John K has released his latest single, “Never Been In Love.” The song is the latest to be taken from his upcoming new studio album SALT + LIGHT, set for release on July 18, 2025 via Epic Records.

The Orlando, FL-bred artist has showcased his evolution in songwriting over the release of several early singles from the album, which have highlighted a narrative around a story that is both deeply personal and intimately universal—love, family and personal growth. “Never Been In Love,” despite its dubious title, celebrates a euphoric love that makes him feel as if he’s “never been in love before,” continuing a theme of celebrating the love that he’s discovered in his marriage.

Produced by Grant Boutin (Tate McRae, Meghan Trainor), the song was inspired by a real-life text message exchange between John and his wife. “I texted my wife, ‘How did you feel when we first met?’ She wrote back in real-time and said, ‘Like I’ve never been in love before’,” he recalls. “It’s about meeting somebody and falling so hard that you forget everyone you met before because you want to live the rest of your life with this person.”

The euphoric sentiment of the lyrics is matched in both the performance and production—a sharp aim at the dance floor, replete with a quick-paced drum pattern and sharp guitar that runs in seamless concurrence with John’s piercing vocal delivery.

Earlier this year, John kicked the SALT + LIGHT era into overdrive with the release of the singles “Honey,” a perfect dose of pure pop that ruminates on anxiety, and “River,” an existential rumination on human connection. Each song has displayed an emotional complexity befitting someone who’s navigated through live-altering changes over several years. The results already speak of themselves, with “Honey” reaching the top 15 at Hot AC radio in the US.

John K will kick off a 21-date North American run in support of the album, beginning in Seattle, WA at Barboza on July 31. With stops across San Francisco, CA, Los Angeles, CA, Chicago, IL, Toronto, ON, New York City, NY, Atlanta, GA, and more, the tour will wrap on August 31 in John’s hometown of Orlando, FL at The Social. John K’s return has invigorated his global audience, which was solidified by an inspiring run of early wins. In just a few short years, he landed an opening slot on the international One Republic Tour, hit the road with Marc E. Bassy, sold out a crowd of 15,000-plus in Korea (where he is a bonafide pop star), and racked up over 1.3 billion streams across his catalog. His 2019 breakout “if we never met” went multi-platinum, and he released two albums over the course of 2020 and 2021.

Now, as he builds toward SALT + LIGHT, John K reflects on the road to this point: “I want every word I’m singing to be believable. My biggest hope is to connect. I hope the tension, pain, growth, and love come out in this beautiful way. I want to write songs you can play at your wedding and keep coming back to for the rest of your life. I’m grateful for every day I get to pursue this. I’m taking notice of all the beauty around me, and I’m excited to bring this music to the world.”
