Pierce The Veil and Sum 41 kicked off the stacked We Will Detonate! Tour with two back to back shows in Denver at The Ogden Theatre over the weekend. With a busy month of shows ahead of them, it seemed that every band on the bill was ready to pull out all of the stops for the opening night of tour, and despite a few small snags along the way, the show was a success.
2016 was one hell of a year of 10-year anniversary tours for the Myspace-era emo kid in all of us. With extensive anniversary tours from bands like Underoath, Hawthorne Heights, Boys Like Girls, Cute Is What We Aim For and countless others, we’ve all relived our glory days in one way or another this year (sans embarrassing haircuts, I’m sure) which begs the question – what does 2017 hold?
Pierce The Veil brought the Made to Destroy Tour to the Atlanta Tabernacle concert hall on October 7 with an estimated over 1,000 devoted fans in attendance. Throughout the night, the band played quite a bit of material from their new album, Misadventures to their diehard audience of all ages – young pre-teens to adults’ faces were lit up the entirety of Friday night.
When Pierce The Veil came through Denver for the second date of their Misadventures tour, I wasn’t quite sure what to expect. The band dropped their new album, Misadventures less than a month prior, and were set to play it full, which seemed pretty risky. What if fans weren’t feeling it? What if they wanted to hear some older music? What would the turnout be like? Honestly, I don’t know why I wondered any of this, because it’s Pierce The Veil, for crying out loud. With such a dedicated fanbase (people were lining up outside the venue starting at four in the morning) it was no surprise that everyone knew every word to every song the band played, and with two strong supporting acts to open, the show was stellar from start to finish.
