Summer concert season is well underway, which means that this month is absolutely stacked with some amazing concerts in Colorado. While there are some massive tours coming through town – like The Weeknd at Empower Field and The Killers at Ball Arena – there are also plenty of smaller shows to catch, especially if you’re still just getting back into the swing of live music again.
Here are fifteen shows that we think you need to see this month:
August 7th – ROZU @ Lost Lake
Denver’s own Rozu are starting this month off strong! Not only are they bringing their energetic live show to the intimate Lost Lake on the 7th, but they’re also dropping their new single, “GRIT” just two days prior, on the 5th. Their upcoming hometown show is sure to be a celebration.
August 9th – Coheed and Cambria @ Fiddlers Green Amphitheatre
Coheed and Cambria are currently on tour in support of their successful new album and the next chapter of “The Amory Wars” saga, Vaxis II: A Window of the Waking Mind. Known for their spectacular live performances, they’ve pulled out all of the stops on this run with some stunning production and great opening acts, Alkaline Trio and Mothica.
August 9th – Hoodie Allen @ Bluebird Theater
Hoodie Allen recently ushered in a new era and a new sound with his single, “Wouldn’t That Be Nice” and will be bringing his exciting live performance to The Bluebird Theater on the 9th. With a more intimate venue like The Bluebird, it’ll be no surprise to get up close and personal with him at this show.
August 12th – Local Natives @ Ogden Theatre
There’s nothing quite like a Local Natives show. With on-point vocal harmonies and an electrifying stage presence, they’re sure to put on a hell of a show at The Ogden. They also released two new songs last month, so you’re sure to hear some new material at this show!
August 13th – Sleeping With Sirens @ Ogden Theatre
Sleeping With Sirens are making their long-awaited return to Denver this month with a stacked lineup, consisting of Don Broco, Point North and Garzi. The night promises to be high energy from start to finish.
August 14th – Said The Sky @ Red Rocks
Colorado native, Said The Sky is set to play a massive hometown show this month at the iconic Red Rocks Amphitheatre. The upcoming show is in celebration of his latest album, Sentiment, released earlier this year, and promises to be a one of a kind experience filled with sing-alongs and stunning visuals.
August 18th – Polyphia @ Ogden Theatre
After almost immediately selling out The Gothic Theatre, genre-bending instrumental band, Polyphia quickly upgraded the venue for their upcoming Denver show to the larger Ogden Theatre. The band made their return earlier this year with “Playing God” and have since released their latest single, “Neurotica”. With more new music on the horizon, fans are sure to hear some new material and fan-favorites at this show.
August 19th – Big Gig @ Fiddlers Green Amphitheatre
Channel 93.3’s Big Gig is always one of Colorado’s best days in music, and this year is no different. With a diverse lineup consisting of A Day To Remember, Jimmy Eat World, Silversun Pickups, The Maine and Girlfriends, there’s a little bit of something for everyone at this show.
August 21st – She Wants Revenge @ Gothic Theatre
“This isn’t a reunion, it’s a continuation,” is what She Wants Revenge wrote when announcing their return earlier this year. With that being said, it’s safe to say that fans can expect one hell of a return show to Denver this month, as part of their limited run of North American tour dates. Without knowing the next time they’ll be in town, it would be stupid not to catch this show.
August 25th – Holdfast. @ Aggie Theatre
Fort Collins band Holdfast. have dreamed of headlining their hometown venue, The Aggie Theatre since their inception, and following an exciting start to the summer at UMS, they will finally do just that on August 25th. With a stacked lineup consisting of Tonguebyte, Corsicana, Satellite Pilot, this is one show you don’t want to miss.
August 26th – Sullivan King @ Fox Theatre
Just two months ago, Sullivan King brought his high energy live show, dubbed Reckless Rocks to Red Rocks, which makes his upcoming intimate performance at Boulders Fox Theater a show you do not want to miss.
August 27th – Kayzo @ Mission Ballroom
Kayzo is bringing his unique blend of sound to Mission Ballroom this month, and with Netsky, Emo Nite, HOL! and SWEETTOOTH opening the show, it promises to bridge the gap between punk and EDM, much like his latest album, NEW BREED does with ease.
August 29th – Dashboard @ Fillmore Auditorium
No matter how many times Dashboard Confessional comes thorough Denver, their performances are always worth catching – whether you’ve seen them live a hundred times or would be seeing them for the first time. With an incredible stage presence and stellar live sound, Dashboard alone would be worth going for, but with Andrew McMahon In The Wilderness opening the show, it only sweetens the pot.
August 31st – Zedd @ Red Rocks
If you’re looking for the perfect electronic show to catch at Red Rocks this summer, Zedd is the one for you. One of the hottest DJs in EDM history, Zedd has no shortage of hits, which will make this show a party from start to finish.
August 31st – Hiatus Kaiyote @ Boulder Theater
Melbourne-based, worldwide-beloved, twice-Grammy-nominated Hiatus Kaiyote recently celebrated the released of their Mood Variant remix album and are currently on the road, hitting major festivals such as Outside Lands at the beginning of the month. Their upcoming Boulder show marks an intimate performance from the band, who you likely won’t be able to see in a venue like the Boulder Theater again.
