Civil Youth have been busy preparing for their forthcoming album, Conversations (out 5/19/17), with the release of first single, “Belief,” and their music video for “Dark Debts,” to a thrilling response. Last night, the band showcased their diversity further by dropping a new music video for their stripped-down version of “Down,” originally by Marian Hill. Watch the video now below!
Lead singer, Michael Kepko elaborates:
“‘Down’ seems to be one of the newest, dopest songs out there right now. We wanted to cover something that was mainstream, so when we heard this, we knew how much fun it’d be to make a bit heavier. It’s pretty different for Civil Youth, but we didn’t want to pass up the sampled vocals and drum beat that the original version uses. We wanted to expand what we usually do. “Down” is simple, but refreshing. It’s a fun fusion of Jazz and Hip-Hop and we hope you like our take on it! It’ll pass some “Down” time until we release our new record on 5.19.17!” – Michael Kepko
