There is no shortage of incredible shows coming through Denver this month, but easily one of the best lineups this week will be hitting The Marquis Theater for two nights starting with a sold out show tonight, May 9th through the 10th before traveling to the Aggie Theatre Fort Collins on the 11th. Opening up for KONGOS is indie rock band Mother Mother, who just celebrated the release of their new album, No Culture in February!
Three months before heading to the studio to begin writing the new album, Mother Mother frontman Ryan Guldemond put down a long habit of self-medicating with drugs and alcohol. After a few months of sobriety, the honeymoon wore off and he fell into a depression. A debilitating period of writer’s block ensued, which inspired the first single “Love Stuck” (which can be heard below) and material for the band’s new album.
Mother Mother’s new album No Culture was released on February 10, 2017 via Def Jam Recordings. The album is the follow-up to 2014’s Very Good Bad Thing, which hit No. 1 on Canada’s Alternative Albums chart. In 2015, the band, which also features singer-keyboardist Jasmin Parkin, drummer Ali Siadat, and bassist Mike Young, was nominated for a Juno Award for “Best Group” and toured the U.S. extensively, including dates with Imagine Dragons and AWOLNATION.
