Dan Croll has released “Bad Boy,” the first American single from his sophomore album Emerging Adulthood. “Bad Boy” signals the Stateside return of Croll since releasing his 2014 critically-lauded debut album Sweet Disarray. Listen now below!
Produced by Grammy winning Ben Allen (Animal Collective, Cee-Lo Green, Matt & Kim) in Atlanta’s Milk Money Studios, Emerging Adulthood is set for release on July 21, 2017 via Kobalt Music Group and Communion Records. The album delves into Croll’s speckled-diversity as a songwriter, combining twinges of old-fashioned jazz and vintage-rock instrumentations with the purest moments of modern pop structures. It’s a pop triumph.
“I’m not sure what it says about the state of my mind, but maybe there are bits that are borderline psychotic,” laughs the 26 year old multi-instrumentalist. “I’ve never wanted to stick to one genre. It’s either because I’m easily distracted or because my mum brought me up on brass bands, Brian Wilson, jazz and Michael Jackson. I can’t see the fun in sticking to one sound.”
With the June 2 launch, “Bad Boy” will join three previously available instant downloads for the pre-orders for Emerging Adulthood, space-aged, lounge-pop jam “Away From Today,” euphorically-atmospheric song”Swim,” and “One of Us.”
Additionally, fans will be able to “Dial Dan” to ask him about all things “BAD BOY.” Previous callers, included disbelieving fans to UK Virgin Radio’s Edith Bowman live from her breakfast show; hear some of the best recordings here. The “Bad Boy” Hotline will be open from Thursday, June 8 to Thursday, June 15.
In support of Emerging Adulthood, Croll will embark on a month long North American tour, beginning September 7 at Warsaw in New York and wrapping in California on September 24th. Tickets will be on sale Friday, June 2 at 9am local time at Dancroll.com.
