With her new video for “Cycles,” Kashish powerfully documents the emotional turmoil of an abusive relationship through soulful pop R&B, elemental imagery, and ballet. The lyrics set the scene, but the cinematic visuals and moving choreography really bring this chaotic experience to life.
“‘CYCLES,’ is about recognizing a toxic relationship and building up the courage to end it,” explains Kashish. “I think many people can relate to the idea of knowing that something is bad for you, but still feeling the need to engage with that negative aspect of their life. I want people to know that it is okay to have these feelings, but it is just as important to let go and grow from these experiences.”
This activist and songstress made a name for herself earlier this year by performing her anthemic “Stronger Together” at the NYC Women’s March among other protests across New York City. From the No Ban, No Wall March to student walk-outs, Kashish was there to raise spirits and draw support for causes she believes in. Now with her new song, she’s using her music to shed light on another universal topic.
