Orange County-based indie-pop trio RÓSA have released the music video for their track, “Without You.” The track is featured on their recently released EP Wasteful, which came out on June 30th.
“This music video was made and produced by myself and childhood friend Connor Moulton,” explains guitarist Taylor Van Ginkel. “I told Connor what I thought would be interesting, and he brought it to life. The music video itself was so fun to make…completely DIY. There are also many references to our old EP throughout. For instance, we used the same location where we shot our Gypsy Queen cover to drive home the theme of obsession, which ‘Without You’ speaks to.”
RÓSA spent the majority of 2016 promoting their debut EP Gypsy Queen, highlighted by a residency at the Wayfarer in Costa Mesa, a headline show at the prestigious Bootleg Theatre in Los Angeles, and a headline appearance at School Night LA at Bardot. Following a busy first year as a band, RÓSA has made tremendous strides on their new EP Wasteful with the help of producer Thrice Noble. Last fall, the band entered HUM Studios in Santa Monica and got to work.
“Wasteful is an experiment, just like this single was an attempt at something new for us,” the band explains. “We worked with a producer who we really enjoyed and added his unique style to what we were trying to do. The whole EP was a push out of our comfort zone.” RÓSA combines dreamy & celestial soundscapes with pounding basslines, all of which compliment the unique vocal style of singer Will Winters, which reveals shades of The National’s Matt Berninger.
