Buzzing French hip-hop maestro Rilès has released the official music video for his song “Should I” today.
The 22-year-old, singer, songwriter, composer, and producer fuses together hypnotic beats with airtight bars and an intoxicating hook. Driven by his inimitable energy, the track bears all the hallmarks of a breakout international anthem. Additionally, he uncovers the psychedelic music video—which he personally directed and edited.
Of the video, he said, “It was really important for me to release this video—even a year after its release—because it was in correlation with everything I’ve been living recently…The fame which attracts temptation, those temptations that I see as distractions, and those distractions which made me ask myself a lot of questions coming from all the recent changes in my life.”
It also signals the start of a newly minted partnership with Republic Records as part of his history-making joint venture deal with Republic stateside, Capitol France, and Polydor UK. This is the first deal of its kind in recent memory. Rilès just signed and had the following to say about inking the deal.
“I’m really excited to partner with Republic Records,” he comments. “From all the labels I met, it was the one who truly understood my vision and my goals. Every time I come and meet the team, there’s such an energy in the room and a real motivation to work. I’m psyched for the future. The best is yet to come.”
