18-year-old synth-pop songstress, Mazie, has released her infectious new single “Oh My God” along with the accompanying video. The Baltimore-based artist has also announced that her debut EP, omw, will be out June 1st via Mad Dragon Records and can be preordered now via Apple Music.
“Oh My God” is a dance-floor ready anthem that offers Mazie’s perspective on imbalance between a persistent young man at a typical college party and a girl just trying to enjoy her night. Behind the ear-worm melody and addictively ethereal vibes, Mazie offers an important message about boundaries. Like most songwriters that have been able to strike that delicate balance between pop sensibility and the pursuit of thoughtful artistry, Mazie has managed to wrap a meaningful statement in a carefully crafted and engaging single.
Mazie draws inspiration from an array of powerful female artists ranging from Amy Winehouse to Billie Eilish. Her debut, Talk to the Moon, was a bold, jazz-based performance, that was released when Mazie was still in high school. On her upcoming EP, omw, Mazie has cultivated a bold new sound anchored by her dynamic vocals and command of electronic music production. Her Mad Dragon Music Group debut, “Letters”, came out earlier this year and generated a significant amount of buzz around the young artist’s versatility. With the release of “Oh My God” and the omw EP, we’re sure to see Mazie making a well-deserved run to the top of the charts in 2018.
