Monica Martin has released her second single “Thoughtless” today! “Thoughtless” follows the Chicago-born, Los Angeles-based songstress’ debut single “Cruel” released in the fall.
Of the song, Monica says “So many of us remain floundering idiots, drowning in a sea of golden rules, pearls of wisdom and blue-ribbon lifestyle recipes. The best I can do (so far!) is share the feedback loop that results from me trying yet again to apply any of it. ‘Thoughtless’ is a stream of consciousness of receiving wisdom and panic-laughing my way through actually applying it.”
“Thoughtless” and “Cruel” pave the way for her headlining shows later this month at Los Angeles’ The Moroccan Lounge on January 15th and New York’s PUBLIC Arts on January 23rd. Get tickets here!
Monica Martin has bewitched listeners everywhere with a quirky and quixotic take on pop since 2012. She fronted PHOX as the group became an indie phenomenon whose resume included prime festival spots and late-night television appearances. She joined forces with Jeremy Larson of Violents in 2017 to release Awake And Pretty Much Sober and relocated to Los Angeles to begin work on her own project later that year. She has attracted acclaim from NPR, The New York Times, Noisey, Consequence of Sound, Stereogum and more. Her debut single, “Cruel,” produced by notable British producer Eg White (Adele, Florence & The Machine, Sam Smith), sets the stage for further music in 2019.
