Nashville’s newest pop powerhouse, Kat Saul, is kicking off the new year with her euphoric new single, “Middle Name.”
“Middle Name” is an exploration of a relationship’s honeymoon phase; those dazzling and almost fantastical moments when you’re still just getting to know each other. Written with frequent collaborators Luke Arens & Paige Blue, the single is an absolute pop jam, fusing left-of-center pop beats, Nashville-flavored lyrical sensibility, and alt-pop melodies reminiscent of Charli XCX, Lorde, and Gwen Stefani. “Middle Name” is another fresh yet unapologetic pop delight to add to Kat Saul’s quickly growing repertoire.
Growing up in Nashville, pop singer-songwriter Kat Saul was emerged in music from an early age. She learnt to play guitar and piano at the age five and by age 13 she was writing her own songs. By the time high school came around, Kat was participating in professional writing sessions. Now age 21, Kat has risen as one of the most buzzing young pop writers in Music City.
2018 was a momentous year for Kat as she emerged with her own solo project, starting with her powerful debut single, “Jericho.” Her first effort instantly received attention from Nashville’s Native Magazine, who called it “a definite max out the volume sing along,” while Pop Dust hailed it “a hot track that embodies exactly the kind of buzz she is making in the songwriting community.” Her second single “Unit 408” was met with similar praise from the likes of Femme Riot and Nashville radio station Lightning 100.
Kat closed out the year with the release of “Nick Miller,” an infectious bop named after Jake Johnson’s iconic character in FOX’s New Girl. The single became an instant sensation, with adds on Spotify’s New Music Friday in 9 different countries, as well as personal endorsements from actor Jake Johnson on Instagram and on the popular podcast “Ana Faris Is Unqualified.”
“Middle Name” may only mark Kat’s fourth official release, but it’s only a taster of what’s to come. The Nashville songstress is set to release her debut EP on March 6th, which will coincide with a headlining gig at The Hutton Hotel’s Analog in Nashville. Kat has also been announced as support for RKCB & Shoffy at The High Watt on February 2nd and tickets are available now.
