Chicago-based indie pop outfit Marina City have released their latest single “Addicted,” now available to stream on Spotify, Apple Music, and all DSPs worldwide.
“Sometimes to move forward you have to burn it all down.” This became the motto for 2016’s Ernie Ball’s Band Of The Year, Marina City. The sextet spent most of 2018 stripping themselves down to the core in order to craft the truest version of the band. Partnering with super producer, Dino Zisis (Lady Gaga), the band was free to explore their childhood influences of some of the world’s biggest icons, Michael Jackson, Prince, and Queen along with today’s most exciting artists, The 1975, Foster The People, and The Weeknd. Now armed with an arsenal of new singles, Marina City have grown into their own distinctive sound.
“Being ‘content’ is just as much of an addiction as “wanting more,” the band expressed about their single “Addicted.” “We associate being ‘content’ as being fulfilled however, being ‘content’ can hinder us in finding something better. “Addicted” is about being addicted to feeling content with the things that are detrimental. You know it’s bad but you are always looking for the good in it. We trick ourselves into believing things are good. If something no longer makes you happy then get rid of it. You will never grow if you always feel content.”
Marina City is sexy, dark, dynamic, broke, beautiful, groovy, and it’s nothing you can quite put your finger on. The band doesn’t care what genre they are classified in. They burnt it all down and found who they truly were underneath.
Fans can catch Marina City at their upcoming Chicago headlining show at Chop Shop on April 5th. Tickets can be purchased HERE.
