Bay Ledges have released their video for “I Wonder” from their latest EP, In Waves, which was released this past fall via S-Curve Records. The EP was recorded between bandleader Zach Hurd’s home studio in Los Angeles and the studios of producers Miro Mackie (The Neighbourhood, Dirty Projectors, St. Vincent), Christian Medice (Lovelytheband, Birthday, New Dialogue) and Jackson Greenberg (Rachel Cantu, Oscar nominated Netflix film Cartel Land and Netflix’s Explained).
Bay Ledges makes indie-pop with the power to transport listeners to a sunnier time and place. The LA-based band’s latest EP, In Waves, which follows up 2017’s Fountain Tropical EP, takes its title from surfer William Finnegan’s memoir Barbarian Days and his paradoxical approach to big-wave riding. “In the book he talks about just letting go when you’re getting pummeled by some terrifying wave-which is the opposite of what you think you’d need to do to live,” explains Hurd. “I wrote most of the EP after going through a breakup, and a lot of the songs came from trying to let go and surrender to that brokenhearted feeling instead of running away from it.”
With the EP, Bay Ledges garnered praise from notable outlets such as Billboard, Baeble, The Wild Honey Pie, Alternative Pressand Ones To Watch, who wrote, “Bay Ledges specializes in pairing deeply personal vocals with vibrant, guitar-centric tracks, creating a dichotomy between the meaning of the song and the feeling it evokes.” Additionally, “I Wonder” is currently featured on Spotify’s The New Alt and Indie Pop playlists, and prior single “Safe” has accumulated over 8.5 million streams on Spotify, while “Straight Jacket” has over 2.6 million.
This past year, Bay Ledges also had a busy touring schedule marked by appearances at festivals including KAABOO Del Mar, Whigfest, Quebec City Summer Festival and Summerfest, support tours with Yoke Lore and Magic City Hippies, and a recent string of East Coast headlining shows.
In Waves, featuring the single “I Wonder”, is available now on all online platforms.
