LA-based indie rock band The Dumes have released their new single “GWTC,” available to stream now on Spotify, Soundcloud, Apple Music, and all DSPs worldwide. “GWTC” is the title track from the band’s debut EP, due out this summer.
The Dumes is fronted by Elodie Tomlinson – music teacher by day and vocalist of the former buzzy LA duo Sibling. As a teenager, she often wrote poetry but had never performed it. But after setting aside a five-time championship snowboarding career, which included countless hours listening to music trudging up and down the Utah mountain range, she picked up her six-string in place of her snowboard and she’s been playing music for audiences ever since.
The Dumes began in early 2018 after Tomlinson met her co-producer and collaborator, Nick Schlike, at a party for ASCAP. They are a culmination of a myriad of influences, from Patti Smith to hip-hop’s boom-bap to the Pretenders to Soundgarden. In the short time since their inception, the band has performed at this year’s Sundance Festival with Judah and the Lion, along with The Peppermint Club in Los Angeles in March.
“’GWTC’ was inspired by a period of my life when I thought I was totally losing myself, but I actually ended up finding myself,” says Tomlinson.
