NEEDSHES have released their new album, Truth Power! Stream the album now below!
Hailing from Tashkent, Uzbekistan, NEEDSHES offer a signature alternative rock foundation with elements of blues, funk, soul, punk and R&B. Throughout their new album, the band intertwines the power of truth and how truth is power combined with hidden metaphors, life stories, and easy-to-follow imagery underlying the collection.
Lead vocalist Otabek Salamov (Beck) expands on the album theme by stating, “Truth Power is a call for awareness about the obvious truths, which are often ignored.” This is evident in their previous single releases “Pain” and “U Babe.” “Pain” is based on an atmospheric horror tale that bundles thoughts of dissatisfaction and despair. Within the track, the main character is protesting against everything surrounding him. To maximize this notion, the band fused a Martin Luther King Jr. speech to provide a fresh take on its impact in today’s world. In addition, they were influenced by Jack White’s antics and leaned on his styling to round out the song. Additionally, “U Babe,” perfectly encapsulates the band’s signature alt/rock sound while infusing R&B, soul, funk and hip-hop. Beck expands on the importance of the song and how meaningful it is to his childhood. He states, “It is kind of the tribute to James Brown, Lauryn Hill, Tupac, Prodigy, Sepultura, and Beastie Boys. I just wanted to make something you can touch and feel nostalgia.” Within the song it addresses the truth as the character is eager for knowledge.”
Over the years, Beck and fellow bandmates, Ivan Petukhov and Alexey Manakhov, have garnered tremendous recognition for their singles “Time to See” and “Anything You Want.” Featured on BBC Radio 6 Music with Tom Robinson, “Time to See” was the featured track in Renault Duster Car Commercial and is featured in the film, Break. Following, the band unleashed “Anything You Want” which was featured in the Renault Kaptur car commercial, the 2019 Lay’s commercial, and is added to the in-store music playlist for Verizon.
