German duo BUNT. offers a fresh take on soul music with the exuberant new single “Sure Don’t Miss You” featuring The Dip, and the accompanying video, which was lensed in New Orleans. “Sure Don’t Miss You” featuring The Dip is available at all digital retailers now. Watch the video now below.
“Our parents introduced us to jazz/soul at a very early age. Artists like Ray Charles, Etta James and Buena Vista Social Club were always playing at home. Since we had been blending classic genres like folk and Americana with electronic music in the past, it felt like a natural progression for us to try it with jazz and soul,” explains BUNT. “We came across the band The Dip after going down a rabbit hole of soul music and fell in love with them right away. Their sound had influences of the past with a fresh and modern twist. We loved working with them and collaborating on ‘Sure Don’t Miss You’!”
In their newly recorded version of “Sure Don’t Miss You” – which features vocals from The Dip, BUNT. amps up the already infectious vibe of the song. With its jangly funk grooves, shimmering piano melody and gloriously huge beats, the horn-laced track unfolds in near-infinite sonic layers and ever-shifting moods.
The official video for “Sure Don’t Miss You” – directed by Oliver Thompson (who helmed the 2016 feature film Welcome to Happiness) and co-directed by BUNT. – is equally vibrant. The duo pops up throughout the clip, which follows the broken-hearted lead character as he visits famed Crescent City haunts, looking to get his groove back.
“We put together a rough treatment and sent it off to our producer friend Bay Dariz. After chatting with him and our team, we decided we had to shoot it in the iconic French Quarter of New Orleans,” says BUNT. “The city is historically rich with jazz and soul music. Shooting at places like Bourbon Street, Fritzels Euro Pub and Frenchman Street was an absolute dream.”
Recently signed to Geffen Records BUNT. is a multi-instrumentalist duo from Stuttgart, Germany composed of Nicolas Crispin (23) and Levi Wijk (23). True to their name – a word that means colorful in their native language – their sound is a vivid combination of genres, including folk, Americana, soul, jazz and pop. With 50 million + streams to date, BUNT. is one of the most successful and streamed artists from their hometown and is attracting a global following. “Sure Don’t Miss You” follows the duo’s early-2019 track, “Oh My Other,” a sweetly lilting track threaded with whistled melodies, stomping rhythms, and high-powered acoustic strumming.
Rolling Stone hailed BUNT. as “the next generation of folk-house” following the release of the single “Harmonica.” Idolator said, “[BUNT.] hits the sweet spot between pop and folk” and Billboard praised their “unabashedly upbeat amalgam of electronic dance music and folksy Americana.” In 2016, BUNT. was selected to co-star alongside Nathaniel Rateliff & The Night Sweats, as well as produce the music bed, for the Kia Motorsport ‘Soul’ campaign following the duo’s critically acclaimed single “Old Guitar.”“Old Guitar” reached # 4 on the US Viral chart and #8 on the Global Viral Spotify.
BUNT.’s songs have since been heard in advertising campaigns for ABC, Hollister, Abercrombie & Fitch, Spotify and Fujifilm, among others. Their mixtape series, “Folk-House Chapters,” featuring remixes of popular songs from artists including Vance Joy, Mumford & Sons, Lumineers, Elle King and more, has won the support of major YouTube channel Proximity, which has hosted all five parts of the series to date.
The duo’s official remixes for OneRepublic’s “Let’s Hurt Tonight,” Avicii’s “Without You,” Gryffin’s “Nobody Compares To You” and Spanish singer Alvaro Soler’s “El Mismo Sol” have charted around the world. Their remix of “El Mismo Sol” hit the #1 slot on the Spotify Viral Chart in Spain upon release. BUNT. will release their first full-length album on Geffen Records this summer.
