Nashville-based pop/rock artist, V Blackburn is gearing up to drop her new concept EP, Public Figure this week, and today, we’re excited to bring you an advance stream! The EP, which is comprised of five songs, all named after someone famous, is a surprisingly personal release that found V overcoming severe writer’s block and surprisingly, opening up more than ever. To further this sense of expression, Blackburn hand-designed the artwork for each single, creating collages decorated with images that depict her personal connection to each song.
Listen to Public Figure now below!
“All of the songs on this EP are in the order of when I wrote them, and I think that is one of my favorite things about the project,” V said of the EP, “It takes you on a journey with me from beginning this project where, with ‘Jon Hamm,’ I am frustrated and self-conscious. On ‘A$AP Rocky’ I am a bit more open and cheeky and embrace my flirtatious side. ‘Kim Kardashian’ is all confidence and self-assurance- a full-on strut. ‘Al Roker’ is painfully honest and allows me to reveal the complex and warring emotions I had after ending a serious relationship.”
“Finally we arrive at the last tune, ‘V,’ which is completely raw and puts my inner-workings and how I feel as a person in the world completely on display in a way I would not have ever imagined I would be able to do publicly. And so much of that was the point of this EP- exploring the many layers of our personalities and how/what we choose to present to the world.”
