dustin kensrue moon room 52615 1

The great thing about seeing a show at the Moon Room is the venue’s intimacy, and that was definitely the case when Dustin Kensrue kicked off his US headlining tour in Denver on Tuesday night. The evening was filled with fulfilled song requests, jokes and banter between Kensrue and the crowd, stories about his family, and of course, great music.

Seafair Interview

Seafair is not your typical band – it’s easy to tell that much just by listening to one song on their debut full-length, The Querencia, which drops on May 26th. With a beautiful string section accompanying the already powerful rock band, this album is sure to set this Cleveland sextet apart from the pack. We had the chance to chat with drummer Ryan Kelly about the band’s journey to The Querencia and their huge plans for the rest of 2015 (hint: it involves a 30-piece orchestra). Check out the full interview and the band’s video for “Inferno” below, and be sure to pick up The Querencia on May…

Seafair The Querencia

Review by Shannon Shumaker To say that Searfair’s new album The Querencia is anything less than a masterpiece would be an understatement. It is always a pleasant surprise to be completely blown away by a band upon the first time listening to them, and that’s exactly what happened to me when listening to The Querencia for the first time. Carried heavily by a gorgeous string section and beautiful, powerful and inviting vocal melodies, Seafair’s The Querencia is the perfect album for springtime. At any point while listening to this album, you can close your eyes and be transported into a…

Survival Guide Way to Go

Review by Shannon Shumaker Survival Guide’s new album Way to Go starts off very dark and eerie with “Ugly Side,” but when the chorus comes in, the song seems to bloom and become bright. The vast differences in sound in just the first song on Way to Go prepare you for the rest of the album, which varies greatly from one track to another, taking you on a journey before the album comes to a close. Following “Ugly Side” is “Prohibition,” which already feels like it is completely on the opposite end of the spectrum from the first song. “Prohibition”…

Jonny Polonsky The Other Side of Midnight

Review by Shannon Shumaker “Chip Away The Stone” is the perfect cinematic intro for Jonny Polonsky’s new album, The Other Side of Midnight. Starting off with low, fuzzy bass lines and quiet vocals, it’s hard to really gauge the feeling of the album at first, but then, Polonsky’s gorgeous high vocals come in, and the song really seems to come together. “Chip Away The Stone” is both a relaxing and haunting intro track that only seems to build as progresses right into the second song, “Lay Down Your Arms.” One of the best things about The Other Side of Midnight…

Wolves At The Gate Reprise

Review by Shannon Shumaker Wolves At The Gate’s new EP, Reprise is jaw droppingly beautiful, to say the least. Known for their stellar post-hardcore work, Wolves At The Gate have definitely proven with this release that they are multi dimensional. These songs, all of which but one are reworked versions of Wolves At The Gates’ powerful older work, are flawless and seem to take on a whole new mood and meaning with the stripped down quality of the songs. The best part is, these aren’t simple acoustic renditions of the songs, either. The full band has been worked into each…
