It may have been a week night, but that didn’t stop Troye Sivan and support LANY from selling out The Ogden Theatre on Tuesday, February 16th. By the time I arrived at the venue, it was just a few minutes before doors opened, and the massive line of dedicated fans wrapped around the venue and down the block, with teens who had been camping out for hours dominating the front. When doors finally opened, it was nearly a stampede – a race to get the best spot in the venue for Troye Sivan’s sold-out debut performance in Denver, Colorado.

With so many artists playing So What?! Music Festival this year, deciding who to watch or check out may be a little overwhelming, so we’ve taken it upon ourselves to make the process a little easier for you. It was hard, but we narrowed it down to fifteen artists that are worth checking out this year. But don’t let us be the judge, listen for yourself!

british invasion tour house of blues 2216 1

The British Invasion Tour kicked off last night at the House of Blues in San Diego without a hitch.  With a lineup that featured While She Sleeps, Asking Alexandria, and Bullet For My Valentine it’s no wonder a slew of fans were lined up hours before door time.  And the wait totally paid off because the sold out show was absolutely killer.

I’ve been to my fair share of ten year anniversary shows in the past couple of years, as it seems that some of my favorite albums are starting to hit that decade mark, but nothing compares to the emotional performance from Jack’s Mannequin at The Ogden Theatre in Denver this Friday night for their Everything In Transit ten year anniversary tour. When the small, ten city tour was announced back in November with a Colorado date on the list, it was no surprise that the date sold out almost immediately, and thankfully, the show absolutely lived up to my (and likely everyone else’s) high expectations.

staff picks best albums of 2015 1

2015 was a big year for music. Though that can be said for just about any year, it seems that 2015 marked a change in the way that we consume our music and the artists that we’re paying attention to. From artists like Adele who chose not to stream her new album, 25 on Spotify and Taylor Swift who decided to pull all of her music from the streaming service completely, to bands like Bring Me The Horizon who shocked fans by changing their sound entirely, this year has been full of ups and downs, big headlines and drama. But above all, it has been filled with great new music, making it nearly impossible for us to rate any albums from best to worst. Instead, The Prelude Press staff chose to highlight some of our favorite albums of 2015 in no particular order.

Melanie Martinez played her second of two shows in Denver at The Ogden Theatre to a very full (yet not quite sold out) house on Wednesday night. Originally set to perform two sold out shows at the much smaller Larimer Lounge, the send show was moved to the larger Ogden Theatre to accommodate high ticket demand, and moments after arriving at the venue, it was obvious why. Melanie Martinez fans are a devoted and passionate bunch. Much of the crowd was dressed quite like Martinez does – with childish babydoll dresses, bright colors and wild makeup to top it all off. These fans seemed like a family, complimenting one another on their wild outfits before even stepping foot in the door, and suddenly, I felt very underdressed in my jeans and t-shirt.
